I was delighted when Jenn Jarecki agreed to show me around Scribbles, a family-owned stationery store and Church Street staple started back in 1994. This little mom-and-pop paperie just won a Seven Daysies award for Best Stationer in Chittenden County for the second year in a row. Check out their website for store info and their blog for recent news.

The back of the store, devoted entirely to custom invitations, offers shelves upon shelves of stationery samples and tables for sitting and perusing as long as you like. Though you can order online, Jenn strongly recommends that you make an appointment to come in and look at samples. Their website, however, is extremely helpful, with an FAQ section on wedding invitations. I don't know what's better, the fantastic customer service or the delightful variety of papers and invitations available. Swing by or make an appointment to see for yourself!

Coming up: A mini vendor feature on calligrapher Geoffrey Burnham, who has been addressing envelopes for Scribbles' customers for nearly 15 years.

Details, details! As someone with a weakness for good design and letterpress, I couldn't get enough of the textures and colors Scribbles has to offer.

This little sign on the front door won me over the second I walked in. Naturally.

In addition to invitations, the front half of the store offers novelties, journals, dog collars, action figures, greeting cards and a plethora of other gift-able items for the Church Street shopper. And, of course, every kind of wrapping paper you can imagine to put them in.
